as with the other micro elements/ media language, sound creates a lot of meaning especially emotion from the audience 

sound makes films emotive 


diegetic - characters in film can here it 

sound effect - a singular sound that makes actions more realistic (car chase, rev of the car engen)

dialog - conversations between characters 

sound bridge - sound that starts in one scene that carry on into another environment (that is diegetic)


non diegetic - characters cannot hear it - unnatural sounds of the environment only the viewer can here it ,added in post production, emphasizes the action taking place

sting - sound that acts as a punctuation, high pitch , signal of an enigma

incidental music - music that fits the theme of the action taking place , pace and tempo emphasizing the connotations of the action 

pace - how fast 

tempo - volume
